Life happens — possession dates shift, elevators are suddenly available, or your original movers cancel. Same-day moving is possible in Calgary when crews, truck size and building access line up quickly. Below we explain how we put together an “emergency” move within hours, what affects the price, and what you can realistically prepare in 60 minutes.

How we free up a crew for the same day

  • Checking nearby jobs. We look for gaps between already scheduled moves and match the right truck size to your load.
  • Dispatching by area. We assign the crew that is already working closest to you (SE, SW, NE, NW) to cut travel time.
  • Confirming building access. We clarify elevators, loading zones and time windows with building management. Having the concierge or property manager number ready really helps.
  • Confirming your inventory. A short room-by-room checklist plus a few photos help us bring the right equipment and enough staff.

What affects the price

Your final cost depends on the number of movers and hours on site, floor level and elevator access, distance between addresses, the day of the week (Fridays and Saturdays are the busiest), and any specialty items such as pianos, safes or gym machines. We use transparent hourly rates with no hidden fees and always confirm an estimated range over the phone before dispatching the truck.

60-minute preparation plan

  1. Pack a “first night” bag: documents, medications, chargers, basic dishes, bedding.
  2. Label rooms with sticky notes: bedroom, living room, office, storage.
  3. Disconnect electronics and place all cables in zip bags, labelled with a marker.
  4. Clear the entrance and loading area. Check parking rules and pay stations — see City of Calgary Parking.
  5. Reserve the elevator with building management (they often require wall protection pads).
  6. Tell us about any “surprises”: tight turns, lofts, heavy mezzanines, or furniture that may need to be disassembled.

Short-notice local and long-distance moves

On the same day we can usually move studios, 1–2 bedroom apartments, small houses and compact offices, as well as handle “partial” moves (only large items). Short-notice long-distance trips (Calgary → Edmonton / within Alberta) are also possible when we have a highway truck and an open time window — call to confirm availability.

Insurance and protection of your belongings

Our crews protect floors, corners and door frames, and use proper equipment: straps, dollies, ramps and moving blankets. Your load is carried under the company’s insurance policy; for high-value items you can request declared value options. For general consumer advice, see Government of Alberta: Moving tips & consumer protection.

Frequently asked questions

Can you still fit me in this evening? Often yes, especially on weekdays. If we have elevator and parking access, we bring the gear we need and complete the job in one visit.

Do I need boxes? If you don’t have time, we can pack the fragile items for you with wrap, cardboard and blankets. It’s faster and more cost-effective, though, if glass and breakables are already boxed.

Do you move pianos or other heavy items? Yes — just let us know in advance: the model, approximate weight, floors at both locations and floor coverings, so we can bring extra protection and the right equipment.
